HOPE

Hospital Outreach Post-suicide Engagement (HOPE) program.

Our HOPE team is staffed 5 days per week between the hours of 09:00am and 5:00 pm.   Calls outside of these times are managed by our Youth Access Team (YAT).

HOPE is a free voluntary, person-centred 12 -week program.  The service supports young people aged 15-25 years who have had a recent experience in a hospital setting due to experiencing distressing suicidal thoughts, have engaged in self-harm behaviours or have attempted suicide.   The program is staffed by mental health clinicians, medical staff, and lived experience staff.  HOPE is part of Orygen Specialist Programs.

The HOPE team will focus on supporting you to

  • Develop plans to keep yourself safe
  • Reduce distress and improve skills for coping
  • Support community participation and engagement
  • Work with your identified support network

Please note that there is high demand for our clinical program and we are unable to offer a service to all young people referred.  HOPE does not offer a self-refer option and all referrals will be reviewed by our Triage team.
