Orygen Youth Health (OYH) is a service for young people from the western and north western areas of Melbourne who are experiencing a mental illness.
We’re a service just for young people. We work with the 15 – 24 year old age group and our services are set up to meet the specific needs of young people at this stage of their lives.
Clients are referred here by their GP, or maybe a counselor, a hospital, their parents, a teacher or some people even bring themselves along to Orygen to get an assessment and some support.
Lots of young people come here. In fact we see over 2000 clients per year.
That's a lot of people! So it's really common to have a mental illness. In fact, 1 in every 5 people will experience it at some point in their lives.
Here at Orygen, we are really skilled and experienced in treating a range of mental illnesses.
We have specialised staff who work with young people around things like depression anxiety, personality disorders and psychosis.
We're a friendly bunch of health professionals who are super passionate about helping young people to get on top of their mental illness and live fulfilling, enjoyable lives.
We also celebrate diversity here. We will support and respect you no matter if you’re gay, straight, bi, trans, born in another country, from a non-Australian heritage, and no matter what your choices and beliefs are. Everyone is valued here.
