Project O

PROJECT O APPLICATIONS HAVE NOW CLOSED. STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES

ABOUT PROJECT: O
“Project O” is about identifying an idea to make Orygen Youth Health (OYH) a better service for the young people who come here.  Take on the challenge of leading a project, and seeing your idea through from start to finish. You'll be supported to plan and implement the project, develop a range of valuable skills, and build experience that you can take with you out into the big wide world.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
The project will focus on improving the service.  The project might be something you’ve come up with yourself.  It might be something the Platform Team have been talking about, or something that has come up through feedback processes.You can even look over a range of projects that OYH has identified as priorities for improvement. Dream big! (But not too big, as there’s not much money to back an extravagant idea, however OYH may be able to fund small costs associated with a project).

WHAT YOU'LL GET OUT OF IT
"Project O" is an opportunity for you conceive and nurture a project from start to finish, and build valuable skills and experience at the same time. You’ll learn about;

  • Planning, leading and developing a project
  • Putting together timelines and how to plan and manage your time
  • Communicating and consulting with staff and other young people
  • Delegating tasks
  • Problem solving
  • Basic computer and admin skills.

The project is on a voluntary basis, which means you won’t get paid but you’ll walk away with super-valuable skills, experience, references and a project portfolio that will help you in your future employment or education endeavors.
[m1] You’ll be based at Orygen Youth Health in Parkville or Sunshine and work approximately 2 hours per week for the duration of the project.

THE TEAM
You’ll be the leader of the project, but you’ll also have a bunch of other people working with you and supporting you. Other young people from OYH may want to get involved in the project, so you’ll get to work collaboratively with your peers to move the project forward. You’ll also work with staff from OYH who have vested interest in the project, and the Youth Participation Coordinator will be your Project Mentor who supports you to develop your skills and will provide supervision along the way.
